The Lamb, the Rebel, and the Sinless Substitute

This Sunday we come to the remarkable scene when Pilate offers the crowd a choice between Jesus and Barabbas. One is innocent; the other is guilty. One deserves to die; the other deserves to go free. And yet, the guilty man is released while the innocent Lamb is condemned. But that is more than Barabbas’s story—it is ours. We are rebels who deserve judgment, yet Jesus willingly takes our place.
